More than eighty years ago, an arts festival was established in Kenora by the Women's Institute of Kenora. It was known as the Music Festival. Over the next thirty years it grew and evolved to include more than music--poetry, drama, dancing and public speaking were introduced. In 1962, the Music Festival became known as the Kenora District Festival of the Arts. It continues to evolve. Today the festival also includes French verse, visual arts and dance.
